THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

This is a famous painting by Holman Hunt that hangs in St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

In the picture, Jesus is knocking on the door of a person’s heart.  There is no handle on the outside.  He won’t come in unless invited.

Everyone has a choice – to leave him outside their life, or to ask Jesus to come in.

Holman Hunt said that while he was painting this picture, he decided to become a Christian and let Jesus come into his life.
